The definition of Righteousness is very simple: It is a God given attribute that implies that our actions are justified. It can mean explicitly that we have been "judged" or "reckoned" as leading a life that is pleasing to God.
Is n't it great to know that God counts us to be Righteous People?
“ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgement; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God." - Philippians 1:9-1
Righteousness, also called Justice, is the second Moral Virtue. This Virtue, contrary to the Virtue of Prudence, acts in our Will.
The Gift of Righteousness is a Gift from God, giving us a burning will that people have what they have the right to have! We will feel profoundly concerned with other people's rights and we will be driven to do something about it!
My dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, let's do our utmost while still living here on earth, to be righteous people, so we too can hear from the Lord:
“ Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me” - Matthew 25: 34-36 </ul>
You see, the definition of righteousness is being people who are simply kind and loving to our neighbor and treating her/him like we want to be treated!
