Dominions are also ranks of Angels, according to Collosians 1:16-17.
The above mentioned scripture mentions a visible government on earth. This government consists of thrones, authorities and powers.
We can also conclude that, aside from this visible type of government, there is also an invisible one in Heaven. They also consist of thrones, authorities and powers.
And more, they have the same types of administration!
These Celestial beings are Crowned Angels and they carry scepters and swords. They use them as symbols of Authority, representing the Power of God.
They exercise command and control by regulating the Angel's duties. They do this in the name of God.
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” - Col 1:16-17
Although the duties that these Authorities carry out are not seen by us, we can be sure that God sees them all. Just like we worship our Creator here on earth, these Celestial beings worship Him in Heaven.
In the book of Revelations, written by John, we can read how John is asked not to bow down at the feet of the angel who appeared to him. By this we understand that only our Creator has the right to be worshipped in the whole universe. This is because He is the only one who is worthy of all honor and glory!
There is also the danger of being deceived by any fallen angel, because the devil likes to appear to us disguised as a faithful angel of God.
But if we have an active prayer life, if we have a good religious culture, we must not fear. Our Lord will not let us be deceived, unless we have been careless ourselves.
My dear sisters and brothers in Christ, these Authorities also pertain to the Choir of Angels that God has established in order to carry out the duties confined to them.
We can rest assured that they know how to keep harmony and order in the universe, under the command of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Ruler of the Universe.
