Baptism Gifts For The New Members Of The Church.

Baptism Gifts for the new little Church Members! Almost everyone has once been present at the Baptism of a child. Some of you may even have experienced this Sacrament as a Godparent!

Baptism, being the first Sacrament of Initiation, is a visible sign of God's love. By receiving this Sacrament the child's journey of Faith starts. This means turning away from all that is evil and going towards Christ.

Because infants cannot talk, the parents and the Godparents make these decisions on their behalf.

Some people object to infant Baptism, because they think it's better to wait until the child grows up and understands what is going on. But there is a very important fact they forget to consider:

Baptism removes both the guilt and the punishment due to original sin. If we delay Baptism until the child can understand, we will put his/her's salvation in danger. Why?

Baptism Grants Us Many Supernatural Graces

  • The guilt of Original Sinis removed.
  • We receive Sanctifying Graces (God living in us!).
  • The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit which are : wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord, are bestowed on us.
  • The child becomes a member of the Church, the Mystical Body of Christ.
  • She/he is enabled to participate in the Sacraments, and in the priesthood of all believers. She/he will become a part of Christ.
  • God infuses the Three Theological Virtues in the child's soul, being Faith, Hope and Charity.

These are just a few of the graces bestowed on us in the Sacrament of Baptism. Delaying this Sacrament won't do us any good!

Taking into consideration all the above mentioned, there is reason enough for friends and relatives to come together and celebrate!

As parents, Godparents, relatives or friends we all celebrate the Initiation of a new Member of the Church! This is the first Sacrament our newborn receives. Show the Joy you feel by giving Baptism Gifts to the new born Child of God. Make this gesture the mark of the first step to a Catholic Spiritual Life!
